I am so PROUD of all of the  ROCKET READERS!!

You should see all of the stars down the first-grade hallway.

It makes my heart full to know that my students  set a goal and achieved it.  Let them know how proud you are of their hard work.    Soon it will be time to celebrate their accomplishment, so keep your eye out for more information to come on our ROCKET READER CELEBRATION!!  

Thanks again for all you do to help our class!

I will be DRA (developmental reading assessment) testing the next two weeks.  If your child does not get a reader please be patient.  When I am done testing I will start up reading groups again until the end of the school year.  Thanks for understanding.

Our last day to turn in Rocket Reader reports is THIS Friday, April 29th!  

May 5th is Mother's Day Makeovers.

May 20th is the Rocket Reader picnic.

Please remember Open House is Tuesday, March 8^th from 6-7 in the evening.  Your child has been working hard and would LOVE to show you their work and their school.  Looking forward to see everyone!!!

If you have not signed up for Seesaw, please remember to do that.  I sent home a QR code for you to sign in with on Wednesday.  This App allows you to see your child’s work that we do here in school.  It’s really cool!

If you have any questions or concerns, please remember you can always call the  office and set up a conference.  I’m always available to talk. 

My conference time is 1:30-2 Monday – Thursday.

I am going to need Ivory soap for a project next week.  Each child needs a bar.  If you could please have your child bring that in by Monday, I would appreciate it.  (if you can bring more than one that would be great also)  It MUST be IVORY brand.

The students who have started turning in Rocket Reader book reports are doing such a good job.  We are enjoying listening to the reports each day.  They love seeing their stars going up the bulletin board toward their goal also. Also, don’t wait to get started!  It’s much easier to do 1 or 2 a week than have to do several a night at the end of April to reach your child’s goal.  This program not only strengthens reading and writing skills, it also teaches responsibility and work ethic. 

I have printed a list of names on the back of this newsletter for Valentine cards.  Please have your child bring them in by Thursday next week.  We will have a bag for the kids to put them in on Friday.  Thanks!

Rocket Reader is starting!  This is my favorite program we do all year!  Please help your child start their reports this week.  You will HAVE to sign each report and put the page numbers.  Then your child will read them in class to get their star.  Save the Date – May 20^th is our celebration day and you will come to our picnic lunch! 

THANK YOU FOR ALL MY BIRTHDAY TREATS!  YOU HAVE MADE THIS “OLD” LADY FEEL VERY SPECIAL THIS WEEK.  LOVE TO ALL!  WHAT A GREAT GROUP!!!

January 22^nd – report cards and DRA reports come home (please sign and return)

January 25^th – Rocket Reader folders come home.  Please read through the information packet.  Help your child choose their goal and sign their contract.  The contracts are due back by Friday, January 29^th. If you have ANY questions please call me or email me.

Report cards will come home today!  Please sign the envelope and return.  You may keep the report card for you.  I am sending home the DRA form for you to sign.  Please sign and return all the pages and I will tear off your copy and send it home for your records.  If you have ANY questions, PLEASE call me!  I’d be happy to meet with you.
